The CUNY TRELLIS Summer Bridge Program was piloted in Summer 2016 at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. Our first cohort of students included students majoring in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, biology and computer science. These students were transferring to CCNY from Queensborough, Kingsborough, Bronx and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Students in the 2016 Summer Bridge Program worked on data analysis projects on global greenhouse gas emissions and observations of climate change, heat waves, cloudburst and coastal flooding in New York City.
Using tidal data from a coastal flood in New York City, students investigated the impacts of projected sea level rise in New York City. More details will be posted soon.
Students analyzed radar rainfall and flood reports during a cloudburst rainstorm. More info will be posted soon.
Using data from the July 2016 heatwave, students investigated the impacts of extreme heat on human health and electricity demand. More details will be posted soon.
